Baseball is
the most widely played sport in America, and has been for centuries. Before video games and television came to the
forefront of entertainment, children throughout the country would pass the time
by playing this much loved sport. In
Leonard Everett Fisher’s collection of paintings, the players are purposely not
identified as legendary players or professional teams, but are each given a
Greek letter, symbolizing their position in the game. Having illustrated, and often authored, over
200 children’s books, Fisher’s distinctive style shines through as the story of
a baseball game is played out through this delightful series of paintings.
