ArtRod by Steven Vaughan

Exciting news! Earlier this week, artist Steven Vaughan unveiled the ArtRod in LA.

The ArtRod began as a 1970 Saab, which Vaughan re-designed and remodeled, and then painted on it in his hyper-realistic style. The car is an anti-war statement, completely covered in war-themed narratives, and ends with Marilyn Monroe holding the peace sign on the back. The ArtRod is truly one-of-a-kind, and is estimated at $1.2 million. It will be at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

Vaughan touchingly dedicated the unveiling to Robin Williams, and announced that some of the proceeds earned at events with the ArtRod will be donated to those suffering with depression.

Much of Vaughan's work incorporates automobiles, politics, and pop culture - like these three on view at Project 3W57 through September 1st:

Benz and Roses, 2009, acrylic on canvas, 48" x 72"

Denial River, 2013, acrylic on aluminum panel, 72" x 48"

Warhol and Audrey Hepburn Split for the Coast, Scene One, Take One, 2010, acrylic on aluminum, 48" x 36"

Congratulations, Steven!
