WORK OF THE WEEK: Featuring Alexander Krivosheiw

Krivosheiw's sculptures are mesmerizing, dynamic and curvilinear with a sophisticated balance between representation and abstraction. They seem timeless with their organic movement and musical forms. Alexander joins traditional hand-fabricated craftsmanship with innovative, iconoclastic concepts realized in bronze and aluminum. The reflection of the surrounding on the polished surface of metal gives an entirely new life to the piece and creates a strong connection with it's environment. Krivosheiw draw inspiration from varied sources including industrial design, ancient Greek cultures, and modern design aesthetic and is intrigued by the fundamental nature of metal's longevity and strength, as well as its inherent elegance.

Alexander was born in New York in 1976. Received his B.A. with Honors in sculpture from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. While enrolled at School, he embarked upon an intensive seven-year apprenticeship with sculptor Kevin Barrett, where he developed and honed his welding and fabrication skills for large-form sculpture. 

His work is in many museums and private collections such as: Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, Jacksonville, Florida.Thomas H. and Diane DeMell Jacobsen PhD Foundation. He exhibited at Soho Grand Hotel, Cheryl Hazan Contemporary Art, Dave Parsons Studio all in New York and many other reputable galleries nationally and internationally.
